Gaz GOLD Coilover Kits
The Gaz Shocks GOLD coilover kit range is mainly aimed at serious track day, circuit racing, drift, drag and rally (tarmac and gravel) drivers who want a high performance damping system that does not fade or change in performance over a track day or race. That said, where no other kit type is offered for a specific vehicle, the Gaz GOLD kit can be built for fast road and occasional track day cars also.
The Gaz GOLD kits are built with larger damper bodies for increased oil capacity that allows the damper oil to run cooler, eliminating damper fade. The damper valving is designed for motorsport offering robust and fast reacting valves to maintain damper control under harsh motorsport conditions. The dampers are fitted with a gas cell in the outer reservoir and filled with a high viscosity index multi grade oil to prevent cavitation and reduce fade in motor racing conditions.
The Gaz GOLD dampers are fitted with 22mm diameter induction hardened piston rods that are hard chrome plated for strength and durability. They also feature multi lip sealing. The outer seal is a metal encased wiper to clean the piston rod. This in turn extends main seal performance and oil retention under extreme conditions.
The coilovers and telescopic units in the GOLD range utilise lightweight billet alloy components where possible, i.e. bases, end fittings, seats, lockrings, rod guides and gland nuts. The outer tube is steel with a black zinc plated coating to provide the best anti corrosive finish possible. All outer alloy components are anodised.
Compared to the GHA damper, the GOLD damper design allows the damper to control springs of much higher rate as seen in motorsport. This high spring rate is necessary when using semi and full slick tyres in order to generate the required heat into the tyre to get it to its optimum operating temperature.
The Gaz GOLD kits offer on-car height and damping adjustability which allows you to dial in the handling characteristics you want, such as reducing unwanted understeer or oversteer. The kits are easy to fit simply bolting up to your cars existing suspension mounts. We supply a range of fixed and camber adjustable top mounts for those drivers wanting to further fine tune their cars handling improvements.
The kits feature custom body and stroke lengths to allow a recommended ride height lowering adjustment range of 25mm to 65mm lower than standard for racing or up to 25mm above OE ride height where extra ride height is required. It is worth noting that the kits can obtain much lower ride heights for show purposes.
Once you have ordered through our website, we email you to ask you what the car is being used for, the cars basic specification and the tyres you are using. This is vitally important so that the kit can be built with the correct spring rates, damper valving and ride height range for your car and what you use it for.
